The Best Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Cases for Your New Phone – IGN

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is one of the best phones around right now, but given the nature of foldable devices, it’s not the most durable. Combine that with how expensive it is and you’ll want to get a Galaxy Z Fold 6 case to protect your investment. Luckily, Galaxy Z Fold 6 cases come in so many different varieties that choosing the right one really depends on your specific needs.

Our top picks in brief

For example, my favorite case is Samsung’s S Pen case. It’s essentially a silicone shell that comes with an S Pen. It does little in terms of actually protecting your phone, but it adds functionality. However, if you just want a case that will save your phone from a hard drop on concrete, many cases can do just that.

While I haven’t used all of these cases personally, I have used several iterations of each, just for other phones.

1. OtterBox Defender XT Series

OtterBox Defender XT Series

The OtterBox Defender Series XT Galaxy Fold 6 Case will keep your phone pristine, even in the most intense conditions.

Thick, but still allows wireless charging

Does not come with screen protector

Otterbox has been known for making high-strength phone cases for years, and the Defender XT case for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is, well, another. The case is made of a thick layer of rubber and plastic that protects your phone from just about anything. It doesn’t come with a built-in screen protector, but it does have protrusions that extend beyond the screen, protecting the display if dropped. Just, like, don’t hit it with a hammer.

Despite the thickness, OtterBox Defender XT is still compatible with wireless charging. This means you won’t have to worry about taking your phone off just to put it on a wireless charger, if that’s your thing. If you don’t like wireless charging, the case also has little flaps that protect the charging port from dust and water.

2. Pen Case for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 S

The best pen holder

If you want the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 to come with an S Pen, this is your case.

Available in many different colors

One of the best ways to use the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is with an S Pen, similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. But the Z fold 6 one is not provided. The fact that Samsung hasn’t yet bundled its most expensive phone with a stylus is frankly baffling, but if you care, the best way to get an S Pen is this case. It’s a little pricey, which can be jarring, but it includes the S Pen, which makes up for most of the price.

The only downside is that this little flap of silicone that makes up the rest of the case doesn’t do much to protect your phone. This is the type of case that adds functionality more than protection. So if you’re the type who always drops your phone, you might want to look at a sturdier case. But if you only want to use the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 with a smart pen and want a place to store the pen when you’re not using it, this S Pen case is perfect.

3. Kindsuit Case for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

Best premium case

The Kindsuit Case for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is an ultra-premium faux leather case that will keep your foldable scratch-free.

It’s not the most protective case

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is an incredibly expensive phone start at $1,899, after all. With any device this expensive, you’ll want to wrap it in something that feels just as premium as the device itself, and that’s what this Kindsuit case truly is. This is a faux leather case with a soft inner lining which is great for protecting your phone from scratches. It won’t do much to cushion the impact of drops, but if you’re just worried about your keys scratching your phone, the Kindsuit case will protect your phone in style.

The Kindsuit case is quite expensive, however, coming in at $89.99 for what is essentially a faux leather casing for your phone. But that price might be worth it if you want your phone to feel as luxurious as its price. Don’t expect this case to protect your phone from a high-speed encounter with concrete.

4. Spigen Slim Armor Pro

Best rugged case

Spigen Slim Armor Pro

The best high strength case

Spigen Slim Armor Pro

The Spigen Slim Armor Pro is a hard case that will protect your Galaxy Z Fold 6 from all types of drops and accidents.

Thinner than the OtterBox Defender

The Spigen Slim Armor Pro is an excellent case if pure protection is your biggest priority in a Galaxy Z Fold 6 case. Not only is it made from the same rubber and plastic blend as the OtterBox Defender, but it allows for cushions of air between the case and the phone, adding additional shock absorption. However, just like the OtterBox Defender XT, it doesn’t include a screen protector, so you’ll have to purchase that separately.

Just like any other super-protective phone case, though, the Spigen Slim Armor Pro doesn’t look as sleek as the phone it’s protecting. It’s less bulky than some similar cases, but it’s still a giant hunk of plastic and rubber that adds a bit of bulk to the phone. However, this is a small price to pay if you’re the type of person who always drops your phone.

5. Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector

The best screen protector

This tempered glass screen protector will withstand the brunt of drops and scratches, so your original display will remain intact.

Protects your screen from scratches and cracks

Comes with an additional screen protector

If you don’t want to add extra bulk to your device, but still want to protect your external display from scratches and cracks, simply getting a screen protector makes a lot of sense. While it won’t protect the hinge or frame of your phone from drops, it will prevent the screen from breaking. Plus, it’s much cheaper than buying a full protective case.

Just like any similar screen protector, however, the Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector can be difficult to apply to your device, especially if you’ve never done it before. These screen protectors Do It comes with a small applicator that helps you align the protector with the display, but you’ll still need to take steps to prevent air bubbles and dust from getting between the two layers. Once connected, however, it’s barely noticeable and doesn’t affect the responsiveness of the display. This means you can continue to use your phone as if it had no screen protector at all.

How to choose a case for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

Whenever you’re looking for a phone case, you need to consider how you normally handle your phone – everyone’s use case will vary. For example, if you know you drop your phone often, you’ll need a more protective case than someone who just wants to protect their phone from superficial scratches.

As soon as you determine how much protection you need, the next step is to determine your budget. Samsung sells its own phone cases, which are excellent but typically much more expensive than other companies’ cases. If you don’t want to spend nearly $100 on a phone case, there are tons of cheap phone cases on Amazon from brands you’ve probably never heard of. They will absolutely work in a pinch, but there’s always a risk that they won’t fit properly or will break after dropping your phone once or twice. But hey, at least it’s better to break a $20 case than an $1,899 phone.

Of course, aesthetics also play a role. Nowadays our phones are practically an extension of ourselves, and wanting to express yourself through a phone case is perfectly legitimate. You can find artistic cases with sleek designs, or you can buy something like Samsung’s Kindsuit case, which makes your phone look like a mini briefcase or a sleek wallet. I encourage you to browse around and find a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 case that really speaks to you. After all, if you’re going to take this phone with you wherever you go, you should like how it looks.
